Puff 'n Stuff Catering is looking for a Venue Manager at Pepin Hospitality Center (PHC) to actively manage the set-up crews, cleaning crews, Puff 'n Stuff (PNS) staff arrivals, vendor load-ins, facility maintenance and repair, relationship with Pepin Hospitality Team and event related behind the scenes tasks for client events.  Our outgoing Venue Manager will be available to train the person hired for this position.

Primary Job Functions:

  • Work with Special Event Planner, Sonya Foster and Special Event Coordinator, Bridget Estrada on schedule of events at PHC. Help schedule pre-set dates, room flips and cleans, vendor load in times, delivery times and manage to this schedule.
  • Hire and Train a group of set-up crew and cleaning crew for the facility.
  • Maintain weekly schedule and payroll with the assistance of the Warehouse Manager (peer).
  • Ensure crews are productive, floor diagrams are accurate, and the event spaces are show ready for every client event, walk-through or rehearsal. Create an environment of teamwork, cleanliness and organization.
  • Oversee all facility related items to include processes and systems, supplies, building and event equipment, maintenance contracts, and general security. Be an expert on all lighting and electrical controls and a liaison for our client questions and needs.
  • Contract and coordinate with vendors to ensure timely and correct set‐up, ensure parking restrictions are being adhered to, trucks are being strategically parked.
  • Act as a person-to-go to on event days for clients and staff members as it relates to event logistics. Have good knowledge of each event order.  Participate in the weekly Production Meeting with the PHC sales team to discuss event details with the PNS Operations team.  Be a peer partner to the PNS Operating Departments - Warehouse, Service and Culinary.
  • Recommend and refine improvements to existing storage, delivery, return, transport and load out event procedures.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with the Pepin facility team. Oversee the Pepin event equipment and storeroom. Ensure our Catering contract is being executed and our partnership is always favorable.
  • Post-Event collect feedback from all groups, review Supervisor and Lead Culinary reports detailing feedback and incorporate into improved planning and design for future events.
  • Serve as a PNS and PHC ambassador with the Pepin Sales Team. On occasion, be available to give client or vendor tours of the property.  Work in conjunction on other off-site PNS Events as needed when the company is all-hands on deck.
  • Assist with other tasks or duties as directed.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have three (3) years experience in event facility management or venue management in a multi-million dollar private venue.
  • On & off site event, hotel or hospitality back of house, catering & logistical experience
  • Experience driving up to 24 foot box trucks
  • Must have a valid Florida Driver's license and have no major vehicle infractions within the last calendar year.
  • Must be able to pass/comply with background check.
  • Must be flexible with work shifts, work in a fast paced environment and can adapt to sudden changes. The majority of the schedule is weekend work.
  • Must have effective communication, time management, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Must maintain positive job attitude.
  • Knowledge of department budgeting, production, and skills to manage a diverse working group.
  • Must have ability to learn and comprehend information from Procedure Manuals and other materials.
  • A flexible, entrepreneurial spirit, capable of finding solutions in a fast-paced, growth orientated environment
  • Basic handyman or knowledge of maintenance small tasks.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Bilingual preferred (English & Spanish)
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time up to 6 hours with little or no opportunity for a break.
  • Must be able to make fine distinction in sound, bend, squat, stoop and reach above shoulder level and discern color.
  • Must be able to regularly lift, move and carry 50 - 75 lbs.
