At Blue Water, we proudly support the growth and development needs of our future workforce.  With opportunities in multiple facets of the hospitality industry, Blue Water provides real hands on opportunities for students through our program.  Aimed at providing practical application to support the educational infrastructure that students gain, Blue Water's internships allow our students to make immediate impacts in our business.  This internship experience allows students to rotate throughout all facets of hospitality management including, but not limited to: Front Desk, Group Sales, Housekeeping, Upper Management, Events and Activities. As a market leader in real estate and hospitality management, our interns will be fully immersed in the culture of Blue Water while learning from the best mentors in the industry.   

Internships are offered for Spring into Summer sessions; geared for collegiate level students.

 

Stipend & Living Arrangements:

  • Stipend: Paid for all hours worked: $10-$14 based on property and business needs 
  • Transportation: A vehicle is not required, however is preferred. 
  • Housing: Each property can house interns off property at the expense of the intern. Some Blue Water Hospitality locations may provide on-site housing.
  • Intern Amenities: Access to most recreation rentals & pools, and various employee discounts.
  • College Credited: Internships are eligible for college credited programs  

 

Job Description & Opportunities

Job Description: Students in this program will gain insightful knowledge of all functions it requires to operate a hotel and/or campground resort. Interns gain the experience required for promotion to management positions under supervision of seasoned managers, by performing job duties within all departments. From the ground work, to the managerial components, interns will be exposed to all the operational responsibilities that come with the management of a hospitality resort. 
Reports To: General Manager/ Assistant General Manager 

Effective Date: Spring/Summer, 2020

Requirements:

  • Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of staff and guests 
  • Openness to learning new opportunities 
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments for long durations of time
  • Proficient in problem solving and time management 
  • Ability to work 6 days a week during operating season including holidays and weekends
  • Travel may be required depending upon the positional rotation and property 

Essential Duties:

  • Observes experienced workers to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures, and standards required for performance of departmental duties
  • Receives training and performs front line duties in several departments such as housekeeping, guest services, retail, maintenance, sales, activities and recreation, operations, and general management throughout the course of internship
  • Learns employee functions, operations, management viewpoints and company policies and practices that affect each operation of the business 
  • Understands and exhibits the Blue Water Way while interacting with other employees and guests 
  • Sets performance goals and objectives with each department supervisor and assists in the evaluation processes 
  • Learns the day-to-day operations of the property resort from the essential tasks to the managerial functions
