The primary function of the Accounting Clerk/ General Cashier is to handle the cash deposits, Accounts receivables and Guest complaints.

 LaGuardia Plaza Hotel & Hampton Express LGA

  • Monitor restaurant checks posted to promotional accounts.
  • Check sales tax collected daily, secure tax-exempt certificates and reports.
  • review daily billing and gather all necessary back-ups to prepare billing.
  • Check to ensure billing is done to specified contractual agreements for airline billing, including restaurant checks, folios and required back-up. .
  • Mail/Email and or upload direct billing.
  • Prepare, accounts receivable invoices.
  • Post all accounts receivable payments according to remittance advice received.
  • Ensure fast accurate payment of accounts by following up and making collection calls/emails weekly.
  • Investigate and approve airline commission invoices.
  • Respond to guest queries and account disputes.
  • Prepare Weekly Accounts Receivable Aging Report.
  • Investigate, resolve and respond to credit card disputes to avoid possible chargebacks 
  • Record and prepare daily cash deposits.
  • Compile month end petty cash report and attached check request to Area Controller for approval.
  • Special assignments as requested

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attend mandatory meetings and hotel functions.
  • Comply with all company standards and policies, as established in the employee handbook.
  • Other duties as required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Hotel experience preferred, strong proficiency in accounting. Thorough knowledge of service flow and capabilities in all revenue areas. The ideal candidate will demonstrate effective and professional written and verbal communications and have the ability to effectively maximize revenue for our properties.

Job Qualifications: 

Education

A High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); Bachelor Degree in Hospitality or Hotel Management preferred or 2 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous hotel experience preferred, but not required.

Experience

Minimum 1-2 years in Office Administration, Hotel Experience preferred; OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licenses/Certifications

Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to drive to appointments. (If Necessary)
