The lifeguard position ensures the safety of pool  patrons and assists with aquatic programs and pool operation. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Facility Manager.

 

Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  1. Safeguards and regulates conduct of pool patrons. Enforces resort policies, rules, and regulations. Rescues patrons and performs appropriate follow-up procedures, including the proper use of equipment in the performance of first aid.
  2. Respond quickly, intelligently, and decisively in accordance with established emergency and accident procedures.  Must be alert and actively seek to prevent accidents and eliminate risk.
  3. Must administer CPR and first aid as appropriate per accident protocols.  Provides written reports on all accidents. Maintains proper updated safety requirements.
  4. Attends in-service training and instructs certain skills to staff. Provides customer service to patrons, including handling customer conflict and complaints, as necessary.
  5. Performs work safely in accordance with departmental safety procedures. Operates equipment safely and reports any unsafe work conditions or practice to supervisor.
  6. Must communicate with patrons professionally and courteously to answer questions, resolve conflicts and enforce park policies and rules.

Performs other duties as assigned

Provides regular and reliable attendance

Job Qualifications:

  1. Must possess a valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certificate and American Red Cross First Aid certificate or other comparable certification.
  2. Must be certified in American Red Cross Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), for the Professional Rescuer or become certified within 30 days of employment.
  3. For Pool 1 with Pool Bar, Lifeguards must be 21 years of age.
