The General Manager is primarily responsible for managing daily hotel operations and providing overall leadership in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to all emergency situations in accordance with hotel policies and procedures.
  • Lead, direct and manage all hotel operations including, but not limited to hotel budgeting and forecasting, strategic planning, leading service initiatives, leading and managing balanced scorecard performance, implementing and complying with all company policies and standards, overseeing sales and marketing initiatives, leading and developing the executive team, responding to guests inquiries and resolving concerns and hotel-wide meeting participation and facilitation.
  • Monitor and develop team member performance, particularly the executive team and department heads, to include, but not limited to, providing supervision and professional development, scheduling, conducting counseling and evaluations and delivering recognition and reward.
  • Recruit, interview and train team members.
  • Oversee service quality, operational efficiency, guest and Team Member satisfaction, standards compliance and service and financial measurements.
  • Identify operational performance, productivity and efficiency gaps and implement measures to correct those deficiencies.
  • Serve as primary liaison with hotel owners and corporate entities
  • Other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) or equivalent; 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong proven leadership experience with well tenured teams

Language and Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to read and speak English and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees, guests and supervisors
  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divide in standard unit of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
