Job Description: As the Sales & Catering Manager you will be charged with securing new volume accounts, grow positive relationships with assigned existing accounts, and assure positive recognition within the local community for the hotel. You will also be responsible for securing banquets & events within the hotels banquet space. Weddings, executive meetings and other events will be secured and maintained by the Sales & Catering Manager. 

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Solicit, negotiate and generate contracted revenues from volume prospects that meet criteria established in the hotel business plan.
  2. Secure banquets & events upon inquiries from our weddings & events sites. Ensure the Operations/Catering Team is aware and prepared for these meetings via weekly BEO Meetings.
  3. Employ revenue management techniques to recommend corporate rate proposals.
  4. Accurately prepare and present Requests for Proposals so that both client and hotel receive a good value.
  5. Prospect for new contract business using a wide variety of methods including phone calls, outside sales calls, attending community functions, internet prospecting, supplier partnerships, trade journals, etc.
  6. Develop, implement and constantly modify sales action plans.
  7. Manage and maintain accurate and up-to-date contact management system.
  8. Negotiate and close contracts that meet the hotel's business plan objectives. The desired arrival, departure and volume patterns must be met.
  9. Internally communicate client requirements, thereby ensuring all information is accurate between client and hotel staff.
  10. Coordinate and participate in target market trade shows and sales blitzes.
  11. Conduct competitive analysis and maintain competitor files in order to be able to compete successfully.
  12. Maintain good rapport with local civic groups and companies.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

Job Skills:

  1. Computer skills to include word processing, spreadsheet, and familiarity with brand-specific property Management System(s).
  2. Ability to exercise excellent communication, presentation, organization, time management, and listening skills.
  3. Ability to use analytic skills for measuring business potential and value to the hotel.
  4. Outgoing personality to maintain existing client relationships, build new relationships and attend community events to represent the company.

Education:

Associates Degree in Sales, Business, or a related field.

Professional Experience:   

Minimum 2 years of hotel sales experience or the equivalent amount of industry experience

Or, an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Travel

Candidates must be willing to travel within their community and as needed for company events. Travel expenses are covered by the company.
