Job Overview
Workers' duties include, but are not limited to food preparation, selling food and drinks, collecting money and tendering change, checking in supplies and food items from vendors.
What is the overall purpose of the role at the location of USTA? Working as part of our customer-facing team you will ensure that high quality and great value food and drink are prepared and served to café and catering customers from a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Be a positive role model and engage with people throughout USTA, who don't necessarily use the café, encouraging them to come in and try eating a variety of food. Key activities and responsibilities:
- Take customer orders and assemble them correctly.
- Check identification for age-restricted items, such as alcoholic beverages.
- Preparing and serving food, making coffee, and tea.
- Complete inventory sheets daily, noting supplies that need to be replenished.
- Accept payment from customers via a cash register system, and responsible for balancing register tills at the end of day.
- Check food items to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
- Ensuring the café is fully stocked and able to meet the needs of the menu at all times, notifying the Operations Manager or kitchen staff of any shortages
- Clean the café areas, inside and outside.
- Ensure area is always safe and hygienic.
- Check that all café facilities, equipment, or furnishings are in good order and report any damage.
- Perform basic maintenance on machines and equipment, as needed.
- Answer questions about concession stand location, prices of goods sold, and other questions about tickets or other items sold.
- Welcome anyone who enters the building when you are on shift and when the front desk is not manned, advising them as necessary.
- Respond promptly and professionally to any customer feedback, comments, or complaints.
- Under the guidance of a Manager/Supervisor, maintain concession stand records with information on products used and food served to customers.
- Follow the normal operating plan, ensuring correct opening and closing times and setting up and breaking down as required.
- Monitor expenditure, stock, wastage, and use-by dates.
