Summary
The primary function of the Lifeguard is to, ensure the safety of patrons of the aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies. As a lifeguard, you are to monitor activities in the pool area in order to prevent accidents while providing a friendly, safe and welcoming environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet all guests with a smile and an enthusiastic welcome, and introduce yourself by name.
- Engage with each and every guest, and empathically listen when they speak.
- Thank each guest for staying with us at every opportunity.
- Ensure that guests' needs and requests are met.
- Ensure to follow through on all issues and discrepancies as pertaining to Guest Services.
- Be aware of tone and composure when addressing guests and other Associates.
- Ensure that guests' names are used throughout your interaction with them (as best you can.)
- Restock & organize all work areas as necessary.
- Ensure steps are taken to enhance guests comfort and satisfaction.
- Ensure that all guests are greeted as soon as they enter the Health Club, whether verbal or through body language.
- Log and maintain the PH and chlorine levels in both pool and Jacuzzi.
- Mop & brush the tiles in and or around the pool and Jacuzzi.
- Ensure the facilities are clean by maintaining the following:
- Empty trash in Fitness Room.
- Replenish paper towels and gym wipes in Fitness Room.
- Mop all areas around pool.
- Clean and wipe down pool furniture.
- Empty trash in pool area.
- Remove dirty towels.
- Wash down benches in Sauna.
- Remove any trash in Sauna.
- Ensure the Health Club members and guests alike have proper and valid ID's.
- Advise swimmers participating in unsafe practices & safety hazards to adhere to pool rules and regulations.
- Maintain order in the Health Club.
- Ensure anyone under the age of 18 is accompanied by an adult.
- Survey the Health Club and immediately respond to secure the safety of members and guests' alike.
- Responsible for the availability and safekeeping of emergency equipment.
- Follow the emergency action plan in the event of an emergency.
- Provide emergency care and treatment as required until emergency medical services arrive.
- Ensure that no parties of any sort are allowed in the pool area.
- Ensure the pool deck is clear of puddles at all times.
- Upon the closing of the Health Club, ensure all doors are closed, all occupants are vacated, and any items remaining in the area are turned into the Front Desk, along with the keys and remote.
- Comply with all company standards and policies, as established in the employee handbook.
- Other duties as required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Must have a minimum of 1-2 years lifeguard experience, hotel setting strongly preferred. Thorough knowledge of customer service. The ideal candidate will demonstrate effective and professional written and verbal communications and have the ability to effectively communicate with guests and team members.
Job Qualifications:
Education
High School Diploma, GED or related field
Experience
Minimum 1-2 years customer service (Hotel industry preferred), or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous Lifeguard experience.
Licenses/Certifications
Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to drive to appointments.
