The Food & Beverage Associate is responsible for performing a variety of tasks in conjunction with the serving, storage, retrieving and sanitation of products and related procedures within the Food & Beverage Department.

Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with all F&B staff to service our patrons in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that guests' needs and requests are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure to follow through on all issues and discrepancies as pertaining to the Restaurant.
  • Aware of tone and composure when addressing guests and other Associates.
  • Cleaning of dining and buffet area and maintaining storage and breakfast supply inventories.
  • Create and maintain a pleasant presentation for the breakfast buffet.
  • Wipe down tables and tops and chairs. Replace linens and set tables.
  • Remove all trash as directed.
  • Transport dishes from the restaurant to the kitchen.
  • Clean and restock all work areas as instructed.
  • The preparation, storage and service of all food and beverage as per SOP and local health department regulations.
  • Replenish supplies of clean linens, silverware, glassware and dishes.
  • Suggest and provide information on menu items.
  • Take guest food and/or beverage orders, and input in the point-of-sale system in the approved time slot as directed by immediate supervisor.
  • Prepare food and beverage for service to hotel guests.
  • Present food and beverage according to established health and presentation standards.
  • Memorize menu items and daily specials in order to answer questions and make recommendations
  • Responsible for knowing the location and proper usage of all safety equipment and emergency procedures.
  • Complete a weekly tip reporting form for accounting department.
  • Assist with set-up of tables, linens, chairs, etc., for full service of banquet events
  • Follow Health and Safety practices at all times
  • Knowledgeable of event menu items and their contents appropriate table settings and service ware, and the correct preparation and garnishing methods.
  • Ability to follow directions from banquet event orders.
  • Responsible for breaking down banquet rooms.
  • Exposure to the elements of outdoors during banquets held
  • Attend mandatory meetings and hotel functions.
  • Comply with all company standards and policies, as established in the employee handbook.

  • Provide welcoming phone greeting, convey menu information over the phone to guests and give accurate estimate of delivery time.
  • Ensure all dietary & allergen concerns are addressed.
  • Repeat all orders back to the guest, Print the guest check & ensure payment is entered properly.
  • Check that all items are accurate before it leaves the kitchen.
  • Monitor guest orders & ensure that they are delivered within the quoted time.
  • Coordinate pick up of trays & tables after the completion of guest's meals (Log Book).
  • Follow up call to the guest (if applicable).
  • Responsible for issues banks, payments, change & accuracy of closed checks.
  • Communicate with the kitchen as well as the F&B supervisor to ensure things run smoothly.
  • Product & equipment inventory/orders.

 

Education And or Experience

A High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); Bachelor Degree in Hospitality or Hotel Management preferred or 2-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous hotel experience preferred, but not required

 

Language Skills

Good communication skills to effectively ensures that the lines of communication are open between the Associates and guests at the hotel; and is absolutely essential. Customer service is our priority, so it is imperative that all Associates communicate to the best of their ability. Good telephone etiquette.

Mathematical Skills

The ability to perform basic mathematical functions: adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; along with the ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and interpret bar graphs.

 

Certifications

Food Handlers, Sanitation and TIPS certifications preferred.
